Job summary

EXP is seeking a Water & Wastewater Engineering Student (Co-op) in Brampton, ON. You will assist with treatment evaluations, design activities, data analysis and documentation while collaborating with multi-disciplinary project teams.

You will return to school after the work term and bring strong fundamentals in environmental/water resources engineering, along with excellent communication and teamwork skills. This role offers hands-on project exposure within EXP’s Early Careers Program.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering with Water Resources focus.
  • Returning to school after the work term.
  • Strong interest in water treatment, wastewater treatment and sustainability.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental water and wastewater engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with water and wastewater treatment process evaluations and design activities.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, calculations, and project documentation.
  • Participate in process modeling, data analysis, and performance assessments.
  • Assist with water quality and wastewater studies.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze operational and environmental data; support field investigations and site visits.
  • Contribute to development of drawings, specifications and design packages.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Assist with project coordination, scheduling and administrative tasks.

What Your Experience Looks Like
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in:
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Civil Engineering (Environmental or Water Resources specialization)
    • Or a related engineering discipline
  • Returning to school following the work term.
  • Strong interest in water treatment, wastewater treatment, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals related to water and wastewater processes.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous co-op or internship experience.
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment processes and operations.
  • Experience with engineering software, data analysis tools, or process modeling applications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites if required.

This job posting is for an existing position vacancy within our organization.

The base hourly range for this role is between $21 to $23. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
