Job summary

EXP in Markham/Barrie is seeking an Intermediate Water Resources Engineer to support water resources and stormwater management in civil land development. You will work on subdivisions and site plans across the GTA, coordinating with clients and regulators in a dynamic, employee-owned firm.

The role demands a PE license or eligibility within a year, 6+ years of related experience, and strong project management and communication skills. Travel across GTA/Southern Ontario is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus 6 years of related experience or equivalency.
• Licensed Professional Engineer or eligible within 1 year of employment.
• Eight years of progressive civil land development and stormwater experience.
• Experience with surface water analysis and hydrologic/hydraulic models (HEC-RAS, PCSWMM).
• Project management experience with small to mid-level projects and tracking hours/expenses.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse audiences.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel GTA and Southern Ontario.
• Experience mentoring or supervising other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning and design of project elements, reports, hydraulic models, drawings, and permitting packages.
• Oversee construction phase engineering services.

Be our next Intermediate Water Resources Engineer!

• Planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services and will include activities focused on design of civil land development and stormwater projects.
• Responsibilities may include overseeing the planning and design of various project elements, the preparation of project reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and documents for inclusion in the final project deliverables.
• Overseeing construction phase engineering services.
• Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public will be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Licensed Professional Engineer, or the ability to meet the minimum criteria to obtain Professional Engineer registration in Ontario within 1 year of employment date.
• Eight (8) years of progressive experience in civil land development projects and stormwater engineering design.
• Experience with and working knowledge of surface water analysis, hydrologic methodologies/models, and hydraulic models (Virtual Otthymo, HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, etc.).
• Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
• Project management experience with small to mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to audiences with diverse technical knowledge.
• A valid driver’s license with own vehicle and travel throughout GTA and Southern Ontario is required.
• Experience mentoring or supervising other engineering professionals.
• Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with diverse audience.

The salary range for this role is between $90.2K-$119.6K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
