Job description

This employment opportunity is open only to Canadian citizens, to landed immigrants in Canada, or to foreign nationals who are legally authorized to work in Canada.

Your mission:

The purpose of this role is to provide relief coverage for the Water Treatment Plant operators and provide utility support for the Power and Recovery department.

  • Provide relief coverage for the Water Treatment Plant Operator
  • Collecting water samples and completing tests
  • Operating equipment and troubleshooting as necessary
  • Maintaining logbooks and test sheets
  • Lockouts and lockout verification
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, participating in safety training and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Performing tank watch and gas testing as required
  • Diversified duties may be performed during mill shutdowns.
  • Utility duties in the Power and Recovery department including (but not limited to); stocking sulfur bags in recaust, soap skimming, railcar loading and unloading and general cleaning and housekeeping duties.

Your profile:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent including: Two of Chem 20, Math 20, or Physics 20.
  • Class 5 driver's license
  • Successful candidate will be required to complete, if have not already obtained, a minimum of a Water Treatment Level 1 certificate within 18 months of service within the department.
  • Ability to analyze water quality data and troubleshoot operational issues effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear reporting.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Collaborative attitude, willing to assist others and work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Have the desire to learn, grow, and succeed.

Our offer:

  • Start: immediate start possible or within two weeks of offer
  • Location: Hinton, AB
  • Duration: temporary position, but permanent employment at Mondi Hinton. You may be assigned to different positions/departments after this temporary position ends.
  • Extent: full-time; 4 on/4 off shift model working straight days unless relief coverage is required on nights
  • Rate: $34.72/hour
  • Competitive benefits and pension package according to the Labour Agreement.
