Job summary

Mikisew Cree First Nation seeks a Water Treatment Operator to monitor and operate its water and wastewater systems at the Fort Chipewyan facility. The role requires ensuring safe, reliable services, complying with health and environmental standards, and maintaining all required documentation.

The position is full-time and temporary for a 1-year term, involving daily field and site-based tasks, reporting through the supervisor, and on-call responses as needed.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or GED required.
  • Post-secondary training in water and wastewater is an asset.
  • Experience operating and maintaining water and wastewater systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily sampling, testing, flow controls, and chemical dosage per Health Canada regulations.
  • Operate and maintain water and wastewater facilities.
  • Respond to emergency calls and coordinate repairs with contractors.
  • Monitor and maintain water wells and complete required reporting.
  • Use SCADA to monitor systems and respond to alarms.
  • Read and interpret construction/record drawings and compile reports.
