Job summary

The City of Quinte West is seeking a Superintendent of Water Treatment to lead the Water Treatment unit and provide direction for daily operations and maintenance. As the ORO, you will coordinate with MECP and health authorities and ensure regulatory compliance.

You will supervise staff, manage schedules, safety, and budgets, and act as a liaison with external agencies while maintaining high standards of service delivery to the community.

Qualifications

• Requires a three-year college diploma in Environmental Engineering Technology or related field.
• Valid Class III Water Treatment and Class II Water Distribution certificates are mandatory.
• Knowledge of applicable Ontario regulations is mandatory.
• Valid G driver's licence and safe driving record are required.
• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) for the Water Treatment unit.
• Lead day-to-day operations and supervise staff.
• Ensure compliance with all statutes and permits for water and wastewater.
• Coordinate maintenance, project plans and budgets with City staff.
• Respond to emergencies with on-call support 24/7.
