Job description

Job Location : US Virgin Islands - St. Thomas / St. John

Salary Range : $260.00 - $260.00 Commission

Travel Percentage : None

Description

Ensure the safe operation of Water Taxi service, maintaining USCG and CBW safety compliance.

Responsible for supervising crew members on board, ensuring safety compliance, and overseeing vessel operations.

Conduct pre-trip inspections, ensuring all safety gear is in place and vessels are ready for operation.

Manage all daily operations, including confirming reservations, maintaining cleanliness, and conducting the shuttle service as scheduled.

Ensure communication with the VIPA dock in Cruz Bay and track guest counts to ensure the vessel is not overloaded.

Report maintenance needs, vessel issues, and inventory to the Marine Operations Manager.

Ensure monthly safety gear inventory is accurate and make recommendations for replacements.

Participate in USCG / Yellow Code inspections and document monthly drills.

Assist with maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and order of the vessel.

Assist with storm preparation and securing the vessel for extreme weather conditions.

Maintain proper documentation, such as vessel logs, pre-underway sheets, and safety records.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

Current USCG credential – Captains

TWIC Card

STCW Basic Training

Current First Aid / CPR

Resident of USVI preferred, with preference for St. Thomas and St. John

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Must be able to walk on various types of surfaces including rough terrain, sitting, standing, maintaining balance, on the beach, and in the water, and working alone.

Must be able to work various work settings such as exposure to sunlight and outside temperature.

Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all persons contacted during the work.

Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations and safe practices.

Ability to operate assigned equipment, read and interpret documents.

Ability to multi-task.

Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely.

Must be able to operate with little or no supervision.

Must be willing to work holidays, nights, and weekends.

Must have strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude.

Team Player, positive and enthusiastic attitude.

Previous day charter experience is a plus.

Knowledge of local destinations.

Basic knowledge of maintenance of vessels a plus.
