Job summary

Onterris is seeking a Water Specialty Engineer to support multiple projects from the London or Guelph office. You will engage with multidisciplinary staff, regulatory agencies, and clients, performing inspections, surveys, and design support using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

The role emphasizes hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, field data interpretation, and collaboration across teams to deliver responsible environmental solutions across Ontario.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in civil/environmental/water resources engineering.
• Eligible for EIT registration with PEO.
• Knowledge of open-channel and pipe-flow hydraulics, stormwater design, and river engineering.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Team-oriented, adaptable, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily and occasional inspections on construction projects, with reporting and documentation.
• Willing to travel and conduct field work across Ontario.
• Complete topographic and as-built surveys.
• Provide drafting/design support using AutoCAD Civil 3D to create base plans from field data.
• Coordinate with drafting and GIS teams to prepare figures and drawings.
• Analyze, assess, and interpret data for hydraulic/hydrologic analyses.
• Assist in proposals, technical reports, design specs, and cost estimates.

Water Specialty Engineer

As an Water Specialty Engineer, In our London or Guelph office , you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.

The compensation range for this role is $25.00 to $30.00 commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location

To thrive in this role,you’llbe comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

• Complete daily and occasional inspections on construction projects, including reporting and documentation

• Willing to travel and undertake field work across Ontario

• Complete topographic surveys and as-built surveys

• Drafting and design support using AutoCAD Civil 3D software to create base plans from field surveys

• Coordinate with drafting and GIS staff to prepare report figures and/or design drawings

• Analyze, assess, and interpret data for hydrologic and hydraulic analysis

• Assist in the preparation of proposals and technical reports, technical specifications for engineering designs and cost estimates

• B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Water Resources Engineering

• Must be eligible for registration as an EIT (Engineer in Training) with Professional Engineers Ontario

• Basic understanding of open channel and pipe flow hydraulics, stormwater management system design, and river engineering

• Strong organizational and interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

• Team oriented, versatile and flexible self-starter, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm to learn and grow

• Possess a valid Class G driver’s license and a clean driving record.

• SWMM, PC SWMM, River2D, MIKE FLOOD, MIKE URBAN, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), DAMBRK, Culvert Master, MIKE SHE, and HEC-HMS will be considered as asset

• One to three years of consulting experience (or relevant pre‑graduation work or co‑op experience) would be an asset

• Experience working safely on active construction sites would be an asset
