Your Opportunity

The Water Resources Team has an opportunity for a part-time Water Resources Specialist in the Burnaby, BC office. The successful candidate will join our growing team of water resources specialists who value teamwork and enjoy the company of their colleagues.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to mine water balance models, mine water management plans, resource permitting applications and environmental impact assessments
  • Hydrological modelling and incorporation of climate change into predictive models
  • Assisting in environmental flow needs assessments, fish habitat loss assessments and designs related to habitat compensation plans
  • Perform tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work using standard methods and techniques, and contribute to delivering quality reports on schedule and within budget
  • Support development of proposals
  • Actively participate in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Program to promote a strong health and safety culture
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Able to register as a professional engineer in training within two years with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, or qualifications to obtain this registration at the start of employment
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Disciplined approach to project execution and technical excellence
Education and Experience

Master’s or Doctorate degree in Geoscience or Engineering or related field.

Minimum 10 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience.

Experience with GoldSim and hydrologic modelling is required.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

  • Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)
  • Min Pay Range: Lower Mainland $76,500
  • Max Pay Range: Lower Mainland $110,900
  • Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
