The Opportunity

The Water Resources Group (Earth & Environment Division in Ontario) is actively seeking Senior Water Resource Engineers and Scientists. We aim to expand our diverse water business in Southern Ontario by supporting a variety of challenging projects across multiple clients and sectors.

This role requires a candidate prepared to take on a leadership position within our team, with proven experience as a surface water engineer or scientist, including hydrologic analysis, flood mitigation, river engineering, hydraulic infrastructure analysis, and design.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Develop, manage, and service clients effectively;
  • Collaborate with senior staff and mentor junior team members;
  • Manage projects, including technical delivery, budgeting, scheduling, and communication for multidisciplinary projects;
  • Develop technical solutions for surface water projects such as erosion and scour protection, river engineering, stormwater management, and flood mitigation;
  • Design surface water management infrastructure from feasibility through to detailed design, tender documentation, and field reviews;
  • Lead surface water resources projects, including watershed management, impact assessments, natural channel design, flood mapping, and environmental compliance and permitting;
  • Identify opportunities and prepare proposals;
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with industry standards;
  • Perform other duties as required;
  • Some travel may be necessary.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • A degree in Water or Environmental Engineering or a related field (preferably with a graduate degree in surface water engineering), or a degree in hydrology, geomorphology, or water quality, with consulting experience in water resources engineering, hydraulic infrastructure assessment, flood mitigation, and related areas;
  • Eligibility for professional engineering and/or geoscientist designation in Ontario;
  • 10-15 years of minimum experience in water resources engineering consulting projects;
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills;
  • High motivation, strategic planning abilities, and capacity to work independently while managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines and budgets;
  • A commitment to technical excellence and proficiency in writing proposals and technical reports.
