Job summary

Artemis Gold Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical/Tailings Management Engineer at the Blackwater Mine site. The role supports the tailings facility development, maintains a site‑wide framework, and coordinates design with consultants to ensure regulatory compliance.

The position requires a P.Eng. in Canada, a civil/environmental/mining engineering degree, and 7–10 years of senior experience. The work schedule is a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation, with a strong emphasis on safety and stakeholder

Qualifications

  • Strong project management and team leadership experience within a mining environment.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills for reporting and presentations.
  • Experience coordinating with stakeholders and external consultants.
  • Knowledge of dam safety principles and OMS requirements is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong safety leadership by adhering to BW Gold safety standards, procedures, and systems.
  • Update and support the life of mine tailings management strategy for implementation and continuously improve tailings management outcomes.
  • Develop and continuously improve the tailings management framework, including the OMS manual, emergency preparedness, and risk assessments.
  • Support company efforts in consultation and engagement with key external stakeholders.
  • In conjunction with Engineer of Record, develop dam raise designs and carry out dam performance evaluations against expected design and operational outcomes.
  • Coordinating design and operational reviews with Independent Tailings Review Board.
  • Ensuring the delivery of periodic dam raise projects, including planning and set up to ensure project execution is inclusive of the complete discipline scope of work.
  • Responsible for coordinating dam construction, tailings and waste deposition schedules, and water management works utilizing company resources;
  • Monitoring construction activities, including observation and documentation of construction activities, materials sampling, coordination with testing laboratories, and observation and testing of other geotechnical constructions.
  • Lead tailings management team in performance of daily responsibilities, including routine inspection and instrumentation monitoring.
  • Develop and manage operational and capital budgets for tailings operations
  • May be required to maintain a clean‑shaven appearance to ensure PPE effectiveness.

Reporting to the Manager – Tailings & Water the Geotechnical/Tailings Management Engineer will be responsible for supporting tailings management facility development for the Blackwater mine. The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining a site wide tailings management framework, evaluating and managing engineering designs of new facilities, coordination of investigative works required to support design, management of consultants and contractors involved in design and construction, planning and monitoring of construction activities, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and international standards, and supporting permitting activities for existing and new tailings management facilities.

Location: Blackwater Mine Site

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

  • May be required to maintain a clean‑shaven appearance (i.e. no facial hair) to ensure the safe and effective use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with assigned duties.
Qualifications
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada and eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, mining engineering, or related discipline.
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in a senior / lead engineer position.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software packages is considered and asset.
  • Knowledge of geosynthetics, construction document preparation, construction quality assurance, and/or surface water hydrology is a plus.
  • Familiarity with international standards and dam safety principles and Operation, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) requirements.
