Job Description
We are currently searching for a Water Resources Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience to join our Calgary office.
In this role, you will support the planning, design, and delivery of water resources projects with a focus on both urban infrastructure and hydrotechnical systems. Our work spans stormwater management, hydrotechnical and river engineering, flood mitigation, and habitat restoration for municipal, provincial, and private-sector clients.
You will deliver innovative solutions to complex projects and be challenged to deliver high quality products to our valued clients. You will also have the opportunity to develop a career path focused on technical leadership, project management, client management, or a combination based on your career aspirations and qualifications.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Offering technical guidance and direction for surface water projects and designs. These projects may encompass stream restoration and stabilization design, the design and assessment of hydraulic structures (such as outfalls, stormwater management facilities, and weirs), as well as the development of master drainage plans, and flood assessment and mitigation strategies.
• Conducting hydrologic and hydraulic modelling (e.g., HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, MIKE) for rivers, stormwater, sanitary, water distribution systems, and related infrastructure.
• Developing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs related to river engineering, streambank protection and restoration, bioengineering, basic hydraulic structures.
• Leading or supporting the preparation of technical deliverables, including proposals, technical reports, design drawings, technical specifications and regulatory approvals.
• Performing GIS-based spatial analysis and managing hydrometric and climate datasets for flood and watershed studies.
• Participating in field programs including construction inspection support, site assessments, and emergency response.
• Mentoring junior staff and contributing to internal knowledge sharing across offices.
• Supporting business development initiatives including drafting proposals.
• Building strong client relationships and liaising with stakeholders.

Job Requirements
What you will bring:
• Undergraduate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on Water Resources and 4+ years of relevant consulting or applied engineering experience.
• Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
• Experience working with GIS platforms such as Manifold, ESRI or QGIS.
• Knowledge of water management modeling such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PCSWMM or Infoworks.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills, with experience contributing to client deliverables and reports.
• Confidence working in both office and field environments.
• Base knowledge of water management structures including: erosion protection, bridge scour, river channels, drainage infrastructure, hydraulic structures, flood protection structures or habitat restoration.
The following would be considered an asset:
• Experience in data modeling, statistics and database languages such as SQL, R or Python is an asset.
• Post-graduate degree in Water Resources Engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience in the following key areas of growth: urban stormwater with an aptitude for programming, river engineering, hydrotechnical design, natural infrastructure and low impact development, water distribution and irrigation water management.
