Job summary

A Canadian steelmaking coal producer is seeking a Technician for Water Operations in Sparwood, British Columbia. This role involves the safe execution of water facility work, compliance with regulations, and performance monitoring of water treatment facilities. Candidates should have a relevant diploma or degree, a Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate, and strong analytical skills. Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Engineering or Sciences, or equivalent combination of training and water treatment experience.
• Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certificate and ability to safely handle chemicals.
• Strong mechanical understanding of process equipment.
• Digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite®, especially Excel.
• Previous experience with Programmable Logic Controllers and Human Machine Interface systems is an asset.
• Level I, II, or III Water or Wastewater Treatment certificate is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with British Columbia legislation for mine water treatment facilities.
• Monitor and control the water treatment facility to achieve performance objectives.
• Conduct sampling and support contractors in sample collection and delivery.
• Perform water chemistry analytical testing and Quality Control testing.
• Execute routine and non-routine operational activities, including equipment isolation.
