Job description
Reporting to the Critical Infrastructures General Supervisor, you will be part of the Environment Department and collaborate with other departments of the mine. You will be responsible for ensuring the success of water and tailings management, stability and safe operations of critical infrastructures, and implementation of industry best practices. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the geotechnical, water & tailings management team including technicians, engineers, EITs and interns.
Provide coaching, mentoring and training to the team.
Promote a safe work environment by the use of the work card, performing regular audits in the field and ensuring that identified hazards are mitigated.
Ensure compliance of the operation with the protocols and procedures of the OMS manual for water & tailings management infrastructures (dikes, channels, pumping & piping system).
Review technical deliverables produced by the team or by consultants to ensure technical excellence (engineering design, inspection & instrumentation report, work package, scope of work).
Develop and maintain standards and procedures on water & tailings management.
Management of geotechnical mandates with consultants (annual inspections, design mandates, MBK-IRB).
Support all the reporting tasks required in the role.
Perform administrative & HR activities for the water & tailings management team (objective setting, performance review, vacation approval, address performance issues, ensure the team has the required equipment to perform their work).
Collaborate in budgeting and workforce planning exercises.
Completion of various other projects assigned by the Critical Infrastructures General Supervisor as necessary; Relief acting Environment Manager as allocated by the Environment & Critical Infrastructures Superintendent.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Civil, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of experience in water & tailings management.
2+ years of experience in supervision of a multidisciplinary technical team.
Proven track record in operational mining projects is essential.
Experience in project start-up and operational readiness is considered an asset.
Experience in design or construction of dikes & dams is considered an asset.
Experience with permafrost environment is considered an asset.
Strong work ethics and positive attitude.
Experience working in a multicultural environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.
Member of a Canadian Engineering society and eligible to NAPEG membership.
Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest.
