Job description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Water / Flood Technician Lead supports emergency response and restoration projects to ensure the goals and needs of the insurance companies and our customers are being met. The Water / Flood Technician is capable of implementing water remediation procedures consistent with the IICRCS-500 Standard.


Job Duties
  1. Work on job sites providing the following services:
  • Water pumping and extraction
  • Mold remediation
  • Moving & re-setting contents
  • Selective demolition as required to accommodate the drying process
  • Debris disposal
  • Setting drying equipment
  • Carpet cleaning
  • Capable of moisture mapping the affected area, inclusive of temperature, relative humidity and MC moisture content readings
  • Participate as directed in the following activities:
    • Vehicle safety and maintenance inspections
    • Ensure vehicle is cleaned and restocked at end of shift
    • Constructing polyethylene enclosures
    • Maintaining equipment
  • Will practice good housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and non-cluttered worksite
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
  • Ensure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and information
  • Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment
  • Comply with all Belfor policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements
  • Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the job to the appropriate person
  • This role could be required to act as a “lead” periodically as designated by their manager
  • Attend all Belfor sponsored training courses

  • Qualifications
    1. IICRC certification for Water Restoration Technician (WRT) required
    2. IICRC certification for Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT) an asset
    3. 2+ years industry related experience, Construction / Restoration / Insurance preferred
    4. Familiarity with chemical products including use, disposal, and Safety Data Sheets
    5. Comprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practices
    6. Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per Belfor’s vehicle policy
    7. Ability to work within a team or independently as needed
    8. Strong written and verbal communication skills
    9. Proven ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
    10. Basic computer and/or Tablet / iPad experience
    11. Willing to work evenings, on call and weekends when requested
    12. Periodic travel may be required
    13. Criminal Record Check

    Physical Demands
    1. Frequent lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted (from 35-65% of the time)
    2. Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted (up to 50% of the time)
    3. Access and mobility in tight spaces
    4. Fit Testing – half and full face mask as needed, annual certification required
    5. Working at Heights - over 5 feet, periodically
    6. Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling
