Position Overview
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Water / Flood Technician Lead supports emergency response and restoration projects to meet the goals and needs of insurance companies and customers. The Water / Flood Technician is capable of implementing water remediation procedures consistent with the IICRC S-500 Standard.
Job Duties
- Work on job sites providing services such as:
- Water pumping and extraction
- Mold remediation
- Moving & re-setting contents
- Selective demolition as required for drying processes
- Debris disposal
- Setting drying equipment
- Carpet cleaning
- Moisture mapping of affected areas, including temperature, relative humidity, and moisture content readings
- Participate in activities such as:
- Vehicle safety and maintenance inspections
- Cleaning and restocking vehicles at end of shift
- Constructing polyethylene enclosures
- Maintaining equipment
- Maintain good housekeeping to ensure a safe, clutter-free worksite.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Work under time constraints to meet deadlines.
- Ensure attention to detail and safeguard property and information.
- Follow safety principles and policies, including safe operation of equipment.
- Comply with Belfor policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Proactively communicate site conditions and concerns.
- This role may involve acting as a lead periodically.
- Attend all Belfor-sponsored training courses.
Qualifications
- IICRC certification for Water Restoration Technician (WRT) required.
- IICRC certification for Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT) preferred.
- 2+ years of industry-related experience, preferably in Construction, Restoration, or Insurance.
- Familiarity with chemical products, including use, disposal, and Safety Data Sheets.
- Understanding of customer service principles.
- Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per Belfor policy.
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer or tablet experience.
- Willingness to work evenings, on call, and weekends as needed.
- Periodic travel may be required.
- Criminal Record Check.
Physical Demands
- Frequent lifting of 5-40 lbs unassisted (35-65% of the time).
- Occasional lifting over 41 lbs with assistance (up to 50% of the time).
- Access and mobility in tight spaces.
- Fit testing for masks, annual certification required.
- Working at heights over 5 feet periodically.
- Sustained standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
