About the Opportunity
We are looking to add a capable and hardworking Water and Wastewater Engineer to our team to help build our growing Water and Wastewater engineering practice in the Kootenay Region! We are looking for someone who shares our core values, has a passion for problem-solving, and has a spark for consulting.
You will work collaboratively in teams on planning, designing, and implementing Water and Wastewater projects for our clients. You will get to hone your technical skills, apply theory, and provide workable solutions for infrastructure planning and design for water and wastewater systems and facilities. Do you see yourself excited to contribute to:
- Engineering design of municipal utility facilities, including lift stations, pumping stations, reservoirs, and pipelines for all clients by working on all technical aspects of the projects. This includes but is not limited to:
- Completing engineering calculations for various design aspects, including hydraulic system curves, tank sizing, dosing calculations, pump and motor sizing, wet well sizing, and piping sizing.
- Completing facility sizing, layouts, and piping design.
- Completing cost estimates, drafting technical memos, design briefs, and reports.
- Reviewing drawings, reports, and other deliverables provided by clients, internal teams, and subconsultants to support successful project delivery.
- Drafting construction specifications and contracts.
- Overseeing and reviewing work provided by engineers-in-training and technologists within the project team, and being responsible for deliverables to our clients.
- Executing water and sanitary system modelling and analysis using WaterCAD and PCSWMM would be an asset.
- Work program preparation, project planning/chartering, and project initiation.
- Preparing presentations, project progress reports, and other documents to support the project delivery process and communicate with clients.
- Managing budgets, schedules, and client communications.
- Providing coordination and effectively communicating between internal and external team members (including clients and sub-consultants) and suppliers.
- Leading project teams by focusing on strong relationships and prioritizing the well-being and growth of the contributing members (including clients) through the lifecycle of the project.
- Developing strong relationships internally to understand our service offerings and the different practice areas, as well as to effectively work in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects for our clients.
- Developing and deepening relationships with our current and prospective clients, focusing on solving problems related to water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Coaching junior engineers and civil engineering technologists as needed.
About You
Our ideal candidate will be a Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineer with 4-7 years of direct industry work experience and is currently registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC or equivalent provincial or territorial association. - You have previous experience working on water and wastewater municipal projects.
- You have worked on the construction of water and wastewater municipal projects.
- You have experience in contract administration and field inspection of construction projects.
- You have experience with water and sanitary system modelling and analysis using WaterCAD and PCSWMM.
- You are willing and able to travel to project sites throughout Western Canada.
- You have a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
