Apex Aluminum is a state-of-the-art aluminum extrusion factory located in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. With a 170,000 square foot aluminum extrusion facility and some of the most modern equipment in its industry, Apex can offer custom extrusions, mill finish aluminum and anodized aluminum to satisfy the most demanding customer and all architectural needs.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Waste Water Technician to join our Anodizing team!

As a Wastewater Technician at Apex Aluminum, you will be responsible for controlling the flow and processing of water/wastewater, conducting routine laboratory tests and analyses, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, performing maintenance tasks, and other related duties.

This is a full-time, permanent position, with an excellent benefits package, and room for growth. We are willing to provide full on-site training, but previous experience would be an asset.

Shift Rotation Schedule: Monday to Thursday - 10hr shift, rotational to weekday & weeknight

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Control flow and processing of water/wastewater, residuals, and finished water/effluent, operating valves and gates either manually or by remote control.
  • Monitor gauges, meters and control panels and observe variations in operating conditions.
  • Collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses, interpreting test results to determine processing requirements
  • Ensure plant records are accurate and up to date.
  • Start and stop pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly sampling of all aspects of the wastewater utility systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform related security, safety and administrative procedures involving chemical hazards, personal protective equipment, general health and safety procedures and emergency preparedness.
  • Undertake routine repairs to water distribution and wastewater treatment and collection systems.
  • Maintain shift logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Experience And Skills

  • Post-secondary education, training, and/or certifications in water treatment, distribution, or wastewater treatment (an asset)
  • Experience collecting and testing water samples.
  • Ability to read water meters, keep maintenance records and update plans.
  • Experience in manufacturing, fusion, geothermal, geo-exchange, and fire hydrant maintenance/servicing an asset.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Intermediate MS Teams, Word and Excel skills.
  • Field experience in plumbing, electrical or mechanical trades an asset.
