Job description

Summary

The Waste Water Operator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of environmental compliance within and outside the plant building.

Responsibilities include:
  • Observe all Company safety rules and regulations, recognize safety as a top priority, and participate in safety meetings.
  • Ensure environmental compliance, including air and water permits.
  • Assist in oversight and compliance of the odor control plan.
  • Oversee Scrubber compliance for air permits, including cleaning, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Operate wastewater processes to maintain compliance with flow, pH, BOD, TSS, discharge temperature, and heavy metals.
  • Coordinate with Passaic Valley on sewer discharge compliance.
  • Conduct wastewater sampling.
  • Coordinate with chemical suppliers for chemical receipt and process improvements.
  • Complete weekly utility reports.
  • Assist in maintenance, preventative maintenance, and manage breakdowns and repairs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in all areas of responsibility.
  • Achieve individual and department targets, goals, and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical school certificate or associate's degree.
  • 1-3 years of experience, preferably in an industrial or agricultural setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Experience operating DAF or packed towers.
  • Ability to adapt to process changes and complete tasks flexibly.
  • Good understanding of production maintenance and repair protocols.
Physical Demands
  • Occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequently walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Regularly reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment

The work will be conducted in a rendering facility and surrounding grounds, requiring tolerance for wet/slippery floors and high/low temperatures.
