What will you be doing!
- Assisting in the development of special tools for the retrieval of storage containers.
- Executing the conditioning and stabilization of storage containers.
- Executing the removal of contaminated water from flooded tile holes.
- Inspecting and sampling tile holes.
- Executing the retrieval and repackaging of Intermediate and High Level Waste (ILW/ HLW).
- Executing the emplacement of Intermediate and High Level Waste (ILW/ HLW).
- Supporting the repatriation of fuel.
- Carrying out waste management activities, including Qualifying for Shipment (on- and off-site waste), scheduling waste shipments, and supervising waste emplacements.
- Maintaining a waste database and generating reports.
- Ensuring hard-copy records associated with waste shipments are filed with Facility records.
- Conducting routine safety inspections of the Facility.
- Preparing Order To Operate and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
- Preparing weekly work schedules.
- Conducting surveillance activities (e.g., WMA G canister air sampling, monitoring tile holes for water accumulation).
- Performing remediation support on projects in the Facility.
- Documenting surveillance results and preparation of final reports.
- Preparing work plans, statements of work, and operational procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology, OR equivalent formal education, in a field relevant to the position and possessing three to eight (3-8) years of pertinent technological experience OR
- Secondary School Graduation Diploma OR equivalent and possessing five to ten (5-10) years of pertinent and progressive experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
- Experience
- Good verbal and technical writing skills.
- Possession of a valid Ontario general driver’s license.
- Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Contribute to the development and execution of WMO objectives.
- Work with, and effectively provide direction to, personnel of varying disciplines.
- Work in a team environment.
- Prepare, manage and execute work schedules.
- Solicit, evaluate and use advice on technical matters from staff and from technical and safety support groups.
- Make sound operational decisions and respond to upset conditions by making conservative decisions regarding safety.
- Deal effectively with internal and external waste generators and service providers.
- Formal training and practical experience in the application of Radiation Protection (RP) principles (Group 3 designation under the CNL Radiation Protection Program will be required).
- Knowledge of waste management practices.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
