Job summary

Roska DBO Inc. in Fort St. John, British Columbia, is seeking a Waste Facility Power Engineer / Plant Operator. The role requires residing in the area and offers a 7/7 shift schedule with alternating days and nights.

A 5th class power engineer certification is required at a minimum, along with safety tickets and a valid driver’s license. The candidate will manage plant operations, boiler systems, and waste processing while adhering to SOPs and safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful completion of pre-employment testing (drug & alcohol).
  • 5th class power engineer certification or higher.
  • Yellow iron training (loader, rock truck, skid steer, tractor) will be considered.
  • Valid and current safety tickets.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure plant safety through SOPs, SWP, Hazard Assessments and Intelex entries.
  • Unloading trucks and managing oil emulsion, water, and vac trucks with paper trail.
  • Operate oil treating processes with treater or cooler/tank treating.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Participate in waste processing, shaker/centrifuge operations and solids treating.
  • Manage water injection, filter changes and pump maintenance.
  • Conduct boiler operations, testing and steam system operations.
  • Carry out daily, weekly and monthly plant checks.
  • General cleaning duties throughout the day.

Waste Facility Power Engineer / Plant Operator

Fort St John, British Columbia

An oil and gas waste facility is looking for a new Power Engineer / Plant Operator to join their team in Fort St John. The successful candidate will reside in the area and work a 7/7 shift, alternating days and nights. A 5 th class power engineer certification is required at a minimum.

Responsibilities:
  • Plant safety (i.e. ensuring that each operation is following Standard Operating Procedures and safety work procedures, SWP permitting, Hazard Assessments and Intelex items are entered in a timely manner)
  • Responsible for truck unloading, oil emulsion, water & vac trucks (paper trail)
  • Responsible for oil treating with the treater, cooler or tank treating
  • Responsible for proper equipment operation and preventative maintenance
  • Participating in waste processing, waste and mud tank operation, shaker & centrifuge operations and solids treating
  • Managing ongoing water injection, filter changing and pump maintenance
  • Conducting boiler operations, testing and steam system operations
  • Conducting daily, weekly and monthly plant checks
  • Performing general cleaning duties throughout the day
Requirements:
  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of pre-employment testing (drug & alcohol)
  • Special training in boiler, treater, shaker/centrifuge, pumps (all) and loader will be considered
  • Yellow iron training (loader, rock truck, skid steer, tractor)
  • Valid and current safety tickets
  • A strong attention to detail, communication skills and a profound ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
  • A proven ability to work well under a frequent amount of supervision
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements
