City of Prince Rupert is hiring a Refuse Truck Operator to join the Public Works team in Prince Rupert, BC. The role focuses on operating refuse equipment, enforcing waste collection rules, and supporting curbside services with safety and efficiency.

Ideal candidates will have a Dogwood Diploma or GED, a valid Class 3 licence with Air Brake Endorsement, and at least two years of driving experience. Union CUPE Local 105, full-time hours, immediate start, overtime as needed.

Qualificações

• Dogwood Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement; Driver’s Abstract required.
• 2 years of Class 3 driving experience.
• Ability to follow safe work practices and comply with procedures and policies.
• Able to operate equipment per regulations and bylaws.
• Sound decision making and onsite judgment for curbside collection.
• Ability to handle minor customer complaints.
• Physical ability for labouring tasks around vehicle and traffic.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of WorkSafe BC Rules and Regulations.

Responsabilidades

• Operate the Refuse Truck and related equipment.
• Screen loads to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Issue violation notices to residents as directed.
• Direct assigned refuse collectors and follow prescribed collection processes.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and respond to operational needs.
