Northwood is hiring a Part Time Housekeeper to join the Halifax team. The role supports cleaning, laundry, and linen services across assigned areas in a long-term care environment. Hours are 32 per biweekly period (8-hour shifts) with immediate start. Northwood emphasizes safety, teamwork and dependable attendance.

Qualifications

• Must have regular and consistent attendance per Northwood standard.
• Minimum 2 years housekeeping in Long Term Care or Acute Care.
• Knowledge of floor care, WHMIS, carpet care and floor refinishing.

Responsabilités

• Perform cleaning in assigned areas.
• Transport garbage and recycling; push/pull large carts.
• Maintain floors and carpets; operate washers/dryers per instructions.
• Assist with laundry duties: folding, ironing, packaging, distribution of linen.
• Keep equipment and work area clean; follow MSDS safety guidelines.
• Set up for special functions and move office furniture as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Northwood is currently accepting applications for a Housekeeper - Part Time to join our Halifax team!

Responsibilities:

• Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas.
• Collect and transport garbage, recycling with the ability to push/pull large carts.
• Performs periodic floor and carpet maintenance in accordance with established procedures and prescribed techniques.
• Operates washers and dryers adhering to established formulas and manufacturer's instructions.
• Assists, as necessary, in other laundry duties such as folding, untangling, pressing, packages, and the distribution of clean linen/laundry.
• Cleans and maintains washing and drying equipment for use in linen/laundry including the linen and laundry rooms.
• Follows safe work practices for chemical use including proper labeling, storage and use. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is used as recommended on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Maintains cleanliness, orderliness and general repair of equipment and work area.
• Completes project/special cleaning, in areas as assigned by the supervisor.
• Complete specific set-ups for special functions.
• Completes office moves - transporting of desks, cabinets and other furniture from one area to another as requested by supervisors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of Grade X or equivalent.
• Must be able to read, write, comprehend and follow through on specific instructions.
• Ability to lift, pull, push and move heavy equipment and heavy furniture on a regular daily basis (50lbs).
• Good personal hygiene.
• Previous laundry experience.
• Must have regular and consistent attendance in accordance with the Northwood corporate standard.
• Ability to work well with others including: co-workers, supervisors and residents.
• Ability to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years work experience in the housekeeping field in a Long Term Care or Acute Care environment.
• Must have knowledge of floor stripping, WHMIS, carpet care, and refinishing floors.

Hours of Work: 32 Hours Biweekly (8 hour shifts)
