Primary Responsibilities

The primary responsibility for this position is to maintain warehouse cleanliness and contribute to a safe working environment. This is a unionized position with Teamsters Local 213. All actions should align with Tree of Life Canada's Mission, Vision, and Values.

Essential Functions

  1. Support and participate in food safety programs including SQF (Safe Quality Food).
  2. Perform general maintenance, cleaning, and preventative tasks such as sweeping, floor cleaning, trash collection, and dusting.
  3. Clean product spills in warehouse aisles as needed.
  4. Remove products from floor level and double deep slots to keep floors debris-free.
  5. Operate trash compactor and empty trash containers.
  6. Follow safety procedures when handling cleaning materials, ensuring they are stored properly in well-marked, ventilated areas.
  7. Operate powered equipment such as forklifts and scrubbers.
  8. Maintain cleanliness of the trash compactor area and keep it free of debris.
  9. Periodically wipe and dust upright beams within arm's reach.
  10. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  11. Maintain good attendance, adhere to safe work practices, and safeguard confidential company information.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, and Skills

  1. High School Diploma required.
  2. Previous experience operating power industrial equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, floor scrubbers) preferred.
  3. Good communication skills with internal customers and management.
  4. Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision. Capable of lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.
  5. Must frequently stand, walk, and climb. The environment may vary from cool to warm temperatures and include outside weather conditions. Noise levels are typically low to moderate.
