Job summary

Gillfor Distribution in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia is seeking a Warehouse/Yard Supervisor for our Dartmouth Distribution Centre. This full-time role reports to the Division Manager and oversees warehouse and yard operations, including forklift-assisted loading/unloading and directing yard staff.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma, forklift training, and at least two years of supervising lumber yard/warehouse work, with the ability to lift up to 80 pounds and work outdoors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Forklift training and experience required.
• Minimum of two years managing/supervising lumber yard/warehouse experience.
• Able to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Knowledge of the building materials industry is an asset.
• Able to work in outdoor conditions.
• Flexibility with start and finish times.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading of building materials in a safe and timely manner.
• Loading orders onto customer trucks.
• Receiving incoming freight.
• Periodic inventory counts (quarterly) and spot checks.
• Maintain a tidy and organized lumber yard and warehouse.
• Compliance with all work safety rules and regulations.
• Politeness and professionalism with all customers and truck drivers.
• Supervise and assist the loading and unloading of building materials operating a forklift.
• Preparation and packing of customer orders in a timely and detailed manner.

As part of our Lumber Yard team at our Dartmouth Distribution Centre, you will work in a team environment reporting directly to our Division Manager. You will be responsible for efficiently managing the warehouse and yard as well as directing and supervising yard staff to reach daily goals. This is a full-time position at our Dartmouth location.

Compensation:

Compensation: $25-$30 per hour, 45 hours per week excluding lunch breaks
