Job summary

Gillfor Distribution in Kelowna is seeking a Warehouse Worker / Material Handler to join our Lumber Yard team at the Kelowna Distribution Centre. You will work in a team, report to the Shipping Supervisor, and be responsible for assembling customer orders, yard service, and maintaining organization of materials.

This is a full-time role at our Kelowna location. You will build, load, unload materials, perform inventory checks, assist in maintaining yard cleanliness, and adhere to safety rules.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Minimum of two years lumber yard and/or warehouse experience.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Knowledge of the building materials industry is an asset.
• Able to work in outdoor conditions.
• Flexibility with start and finish times.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Self-motivated and able to work without supervision.

Responsibilities

• Build, load and unload building materials safely and timely.
• Conduct periodic inventory counts and spot checks.
• Keep lumber yard and warehouse tidy and organized.
• Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
• Be polite to customers and truck drivers in yard.
• Serve customers entering the yard following procedures.
• Prepare, pick and pack customer orders as required.

Gillfor Distribution Kelowna has an additional vacancy for a Warehouse Worker / Material Handler. As part of our Lumber Yard team at our Kelowna Distribution Centre, you will work in a team environment reporting directly to our Shipping Supervisor. You will be responsible for efficiently and accurately assembling customer orders, serving customers in the yard, maintaining the presentation and organization of warehouse materials. This is a full-time position at our Kelowna location.

Expectations

• Building, loading and unloading of building materials in a safe and timely manner
• Periodic inventory counts (quarterly) and spot checks
• Assist in keeping a tidy and organized lumber yard and warehouse
• Compliance to all work safety rules and regulations
• Politeness to customers and truck drivers who are picking up or dropping off orders
• Serve customers as they enter the yard following process and protocols
• Prepare, pick and pack customer orders as required

Ideal Attributes

• High School Diploma
