Cascadia Metals is actively seeking qualified candidates for the position of Warehouse Supervisor, to work at our Calgary branch. The Warehouse Supervisor will set the pace for the shift, ensuring that the department's standard operating procedures are followed and production and efficiency goals are being met or exceeded. The successful candidate will be the primary person responsible for helping minimize barriers to the successful execution of production requirements and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Working with management to determine the priorities for the day
  • Demonstration of expertise in sheet and coil receiving and shipping
  • Experience and ability to operate a forklift. Will be required to train new employees
  • On the floor supervision of warehouse associates and ensure established operating procedures and best practices are followed
  • Ensuring work functions are delegated appropriately to team members
  • Provide coaching and on-the-job training to ensure that employees are capable of meeting individual performance goals
  • Enforcement of workplace rules, policies, and safety practices
  • Maintaining a respectful work environment and assisting in resolving conflict as it arises
  • Proactively bring to the attention of the Branch Manager any operational issues as they develop and assist in finding resolution
  • Responsible for the allocation and proper use of equipment and heavy machinery
  • Responsible for ensuring quality standards are met by visually auditing products and reviewing paperwork.
  • Liaise with shipping and receiving to over see

Requirements

  • Self-motivated & able to problem solve within a fast-paced, constantly growing environment
  • Extremely well organized, able to work independently or as a team with a high level of initiative and flexibility and willing to take on new tasks as needed
  • Must have a valid forklift certificate
  • Meticulous attention to detail is required
  • forklift experience is a must
  • Strong interpersonal skills, friendly, approachable and a team player
  • Strong communication skills: very good handwriting, good telephone manners and excellent command of English (oral and written)
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, and Word and the ability to learn specialized inventory software
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience
