What You Will Do
  • Organize and supervise work activities of staff, both permanent and seasonal, in receiving, storing, packaging and distributing of materials.
  • Establish key daily activities for employees ensuring responsibilities are clearly defined and performance objectives are being met.
  • Assist in running the front desk (Answer dock phone, receive visitors, enforce safety protocol).
  • Responsible for supervision of warehouse staff, both permanent and seasonal, including managing job assignment and break schedules in order to effectively and efficiently complete warehouse tasks on time.
  • Assist the Distribution Manager in the implementing of all aspects of human resource management, including performance management (which involves discipline and work assessments), training, coaching, making recommendations for hiring and discharging as well as assists in the responsibility for managing within and implementing the terms and conditions of the collective agreement.
  • Support and assist the Distribution Manager, in all cost control measures, which include overtime management, expense control and productivity.
  • Maintain procedures for the efficient and safe warehousing of all merchandise received with regard to space, accessibility and positioning by AWSA standards.
  • Evaluate safety, security and housekeeping levels on a daily basis by reviewing warehouse operations to ensure warehouse is clean, secure and well organized, and that damage to product, equipment and facility is prevented.
  • Supervise and participate in housekeeping programs, which promote safe working conditions and provide neat, clean appearance.
  • Implement improved operational processes that enhance warehouse capabilities to meet/exceed service standards.
  • Manage equipment, including the development and implementation of a plan to allocate equipment to jobs, monitoring the cleanliness and working condition of all equipment (i.e. forklifts, hand jacks, etc.), overseeing adjustments and/or repairs as necessary, and coordinating with Engineering to recommend adjustments to quantity and type of equipment to meet business needs and minimize costs.
  • Comply with and enforces all Nutrien Ag Solutions and Industry regulatory and Safety, Health and Environment standards at all times.
  • Ensure all employees use required PPE.
  • Work with Logistics department to ensure customer products flow according to plan. Ensure that orders are picked accurately in a safe, timely and effective manner. Ensure that orders are staged and checked for accuracy and trailers are loaded as per order of delivery.
  • Receive product only destined for Nutrien warehouse, ensure all received product is inspected for damages and transferred to assigned/proper location within warehouse.
  • Ensure that paperwork is completed, legible and accurate and that all completed paperwork is properly distributed.
  • Participate in the inventory management and control procedures.
  • Assist in the responsibility for managing within and implementing the terms and conditions of the collective agreement(s), where applicable.
What You Will Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • 2 years of progressively responsible experience handling and distributing agri-products or related warehouse experience is required.
  • 1 year of previous mentor or supervisor experience is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with SAP software is a bonus.
