The Edmonton Election is a large-scale, complex, highly legislated civic project that is held every four years, featuring tight timelines and a broad range of stakeholders. It is a project that requires agility, precision, and dedication, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a process that enables Edmontonians to vote for Mayor, Council, and Edmonton Public or Edmonton Catholic school board trustees.
As the Warehouse Supervisor reporting to the Project Lead, Locations and Supply Management, you will oversee the Edmonton Election Warehouse and its support staff. This role is essential for supporting election operations, including collaborating with operational areas to determine supply needs, managing the ordering and tracking of supplies, and coordinating the distribution and return of supplies after the election. You will ensure that over 4,000 election workers across up to 250 locations have the necessary equipment and supplies to seamlessly manage an election and serve up to 700,000 eligible voters.
What will you do?
- Oversee the setup and organization of the warehouse space to ensure efficient operations for the 2025 Edmonton Election.
- Support the development and implementation of procedures for material handling and sorting to optimize workflow and accuracy.
- Supervise the receiving process, ensuring all election materials are accurately received and inspected for quality and quantity.
- Manage inventory control, including regular stock counts, tracking material usage, and initiating purchase orders to maintain adequate supplies.
- Supervise and train temporary warehouse staff, including Warehouse Support workers and Ballot Sorters, to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Coordinate the secure and compliant destruction of ballots according to legislative requirements, maintaining accurate destruction records.
- Support project close-out by providing valuable feedback and recommendations for future election processes.
- Oversee the post-election cleanup of the warehouse, ensuring proper disposal of surplus items and leaving the space clean and organized.
Qualifications- 5 years of experience in a Stores operation with proven supervisory skills AND a grade 12 education; OR
- 3 years of practical stores experience AND a Journeyman warehouse certification.
Assets:
- Experience in operating a forklift/reach truck.
Skills required for success:
- Knowledge of storekeeping practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of the grades, terminology, and uses of supplies and materials handled in the assigned stores facility.
- Knowledge of purchasing and requisitioning procedures.
- Ability to supervise staff.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Physical ability to perform the job.

Conditions of Employment:
- Possible Evening and Weekend Work. Availability to work evenings and weekends may be required during peak periods to ensure operational efficiency and meet business demands.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
