Job Title: Warehouse Shipper/Receiver
Reports To: Operations Manager
Department: Shipping/Receiving
Role Purpose: The purpose of this role is to ensure shipments are received, recorded and distributed in accordance to MSI’s requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepares shipping packaging method; determines most economical and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery.
• Prepares necessary shipping document; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
• Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
• Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
• Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
• Delivers items to requisitioning Department.
• Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments, initiates proof of delivery documents.
• Maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
• May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may operate shrink wrap machine;
• Established and or follow up departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by management.
• Initiates continuous improvements as it relates to cost reductions, reduced cycle time and improved process quality.
Qualifications:
• 2-3 years of shipping and receiving experience.
• A valid forklift license is an asset
• Ability to operate forklift and pump trucks safely and efficiently
• Thorough understanding and application of quality standards and control procedures
• Strong understanding and application of workmanship standards
• Detail oriented, quality conscious, well organized, analytical and reliable
• Good written and oral communication skills, as well as ability to understand and communicate in written and oral English is essential
• Enthusiasm and ability to work well independently
• A positive team attitude
• Flexibility to work shifts according to business needs
• Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job and lifting up to 50lb
