Job description

Job Synopsis

This is a working supervisory role. The Warehouse Production Supervisor oversees the daily operations of both the warehouse and production facility. This leader ensures smooth coordination between raw material handling, inventory control, batch paint production, quality control, and shipping. The Warehouse Production Supervisor oversees team performance, ensures safety compliance, and optimizes workflows to support efficiency, accuracy, and seamless plant operations.

Key Areas of Focus
Leadership & Oversight
  • Supervise and coordinate warehouse and production associates’ schedules and responsibilities.
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D and Quality teams to ensure manufacturing processes consistently deliver products that meet established quality, performance, and customer requirements.
  • Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to employees.
  • Monitor performance and enforce company policies and SOPs.
  • Support the Operations team by keeping transactions always up to date on the ERP System.
Warehouse Operations
  • Hands-on while overseeing receiving, storage, inventory control, and shipping.
  • Ensure compliance with the handling of dangerous goods and customs regulations.
  • Maintain equipment and facility readiness in line with 5S principles.
  • Collaborate with logistics for inbound/outbound scheduling.
  • Operate and maintain the Forklift in good condition.
Production Operations
  • Supervise and participate in batch paint production according to formulas and specifications.
  • Monitor quality control checks and address non-conformances.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of production equipment.
  • Physical labour is required.
  • Apply lean practices and support continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and report checklists regarding the new machinery installation and validation.
Health & Safety
  • Enforce safety protocols and PPE compliance in all environments.
  • Conduct safety audits, investigate incidents, and lead corrective actions.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee and drive a culture of safety.
Reporting & Administration
  • Track KPIs such as inventory accuracy, on-time production, and delivery.
  • Generate reports to update leadership on warehouse and production performance.
  • Maintain documentation including inventory logs, QC records, and SOP updates.

Academic Qualifications & Professional Experience
  • Educational Qualifications: While a diploma in supply chain management, engineering, logistics, or business administration is desirable, a diploma from the "School of Hard Knocks" is equally valuable for achieving success in this role.
  • Relevant Experience: Ideally, a minimum of 4 years of previous experience (combined) in a warehouse (management) position and supervising a production environment.
  • Forklift license and knowledge of safe handling practices required.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement practices would be ideal.
  • Previous experience with customs regulations for handling international shipments of dangerous goods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
  • Proficiency in warehouse management software (WMS) and/or ERP systems.
Physical Expectations & Environmental Factors
  • Ergonomic Awareness: Awareness of repetitive motions and ergonomic risk factors is essential, requiring the implementation of mitigation strategies to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, and move around the warehouse for extended periods. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting, often with weights up to 50 lbs. Capacity to climb stairs or ladders to reach high shelves or storage areas as needed.
  • Mobility Requirements: A full range of motion and barrier-free mobility are necessary for effectively performing the responsibilities of this role.
  • Manual Dexterity: Regular handling of tools, scanners, and inventory management devices. Precision in using hand tools and operating warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) when necessary.
  • Onsite Work Environment: The position is based in a warehouse environment characterized by loud noise levels and exposure to temperature variations.
  • Safety Protocols: All GIT employees entering the lab, production or warehouse environments are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
