Warehouse Manager- Household Goods, Commercial, & International Moving/Storage
Position Summary
The Warehouse Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a busy moving and storage facility handling household goods, commercial freight, and international shipments, including FF&E projects. This role ensures safe, accurate, and efficient warehouse operations, supervises warehouse and facility staff, and maintains a clean, organized, and professional environment. The Warehouse Manager works closely with drivers, local crews, vendors, and company leadership to uphold service standards and regulatory compliance, and reports directly to the Local Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Warehouse & Operational Management
- Oversee daily inbound and outbound shipments of household goods, commercial freight, and international containers.
- Maintain 100% location accuracy through effective use of a warehouse locator system and inventory tracking tools.
- Receive, inspect, label, and manage products and assets for FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) projects.
- Supervise vault and racked storage processes for short- and long-term clients, including military (Code 4/SIT) and GSA shipments.
- Coordinate with dispatch and local operations to align warehouse activity with move schedules and field needs.
Team & Driver Coordination- Manage, schedule, and train personnel assigned to work in the warehouse (laborers, forklift drivers, packers).
- Work with drivers and local moving crews to ensure efficient load/unload, accurate documentation, and exceptional service.
- Occasionally participate hands-on with moving tasks away from the warehouse at customer sites (e.g., packing, loading, or deliveries) during peak periods or staffing gaps.
- Ensure accurate documentation and labeling of all incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Conduct regular audits, cycle counts, and maintain up-to-date warehouse logs.
- Ensure all international shipments comply with customs, documentation, and export/import procedures.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, DOT, and internal safety procedures.
Facility & Vendor Oversight- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional facility - including warehouse, parking lot, office areas, and surrounding property.
- Schedule and oversee preventative maintenance of equipment and facility infrastructure (e.g., forklifts, HVAC, dock plates, truck scale).
- Coordinate with external vendors for services such as janitorial, landscaping, pest control, and facility repairs.
Reporting Structure:- Reports directly to the Local Operations Manager and works collaboratively with dispatch, project managers, and executive leadership.
Qualifications: Education & Experience:- High school diploma or equivalent (required); college or technical training a plus.
- Warehouse/logistics management (moving & storage preferred).
- Experience handling international shipments, FF&E projects, or government/military contracts highly preferred.
Skills & Certifications- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in warehouse locator systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
- Forklift certification preferred. Valid driver's license required;
- CDL or straight-truck driving capability a strong plus. Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and work in both warehouse and outdoor settings.
- $50,000-$55,000/year, depending on experience and qualifications
