The Warehouse Maintenance Manager is responsible for directing the safe, cost effective and efficient operations of Gordon Food Service (GFS) warehouse building maintenance department including troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance of applicable mechanical and electrical systems, grounds maintenance, mobile equipment, building security, hydraulic and refrigeration systems and welding.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Directs the safe, cost effective and efficient operations of Gordon Food Service (GFS) warehouse building maintenance department including troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, mobile equipment, automation including conveyors, cranes, ASRS, etc. as applicable, hydraulic systems, welding and fabrication.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Collaborates with management and other department heads to plan preventative maintenance programs and to schedule inspections and major overhauls in coordination with other operating activities.
- Reviews technical papers, catalogs, GFS Standards and other resources to determine supplies and maintenance methods to improve warehouse operations.
- Confers with DC99 and other internal resources to resolve problems in installation and operation of equipment.
- Reviews inspection and repair reports and observes progress of work on major overhauls to evaluate efficiency and work quality.
- Oversees and directs all aspects of warehouse cleaning and housekeeping.
- Understands how to develop and manage fixed labour budgets.
- Understands how to develop and manage utility budgets.
- Understands how to develop and manage repair expense and building budgets.
- Understands how to develop and manage capital projects.
- Understands food safety standards and expectations and works together with other warehouse leaders to achieve company required food safety standards.
- Monitors and directs the repair of machinery and electrical or plumbing systems.
- Prepares work schedules and expedites workflow.
- Ensures compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) Standards.
- Maintains a warehouse safety culture following the policies outlined in the Operations Safety handbook and monitors warehouse safety according to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) as well as any other regulatory standards such as Canadian Standards Association, Environmental Canada as well as others.
- Monitors warehouse safety according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards (U.S.) or Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards (Canada) as well as any other regulatory standards such as Environmental Protection Agency (U.S.) or Canadian Standards Association, Environmental Canada (Canada) as well as others.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Ability to develop and manage fixed labour budgets, utility budgets, repair expenses and building budgets.
- Ability to develop and manage capital projects.
- Understands and ensures compliance with GFSI food safety standards and expectations.

- Must have the ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints including electrical, plumbing, hydraulics, refrigeration, etc.
- Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of Google Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Hangouts, Google Forms and internet software applications.
- Must have knowledge of mobile technology such as Ipads and apps.
- Must be able to use a digital multi-meter for electrical testing.
- Uses maintenance tools provided by NA Maintenance Manager for consistent planning, tracking and oversight.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
- Engineering degree, mechanical or electrical, preferred.
- Must have a high level of mechanical experience with 5+ years of hands-on mechanical repairs/maintenance with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
- Minimum 4 years supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ammonia Refrigeration (Class A) - RETA Certification or Provincial license required.
