Job description

If you are an experiencedWarehouse Labourer, Emerson-Appleton Group Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for you!Based in ourElmira, ONlocation, reporting to the Production and Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible in preparing various products for shipping by consolidating packages as per customer orders. You will complete miscellaneous warehouse duties including the receiving of incoming supplies and ensuring accurate documentation. You will verify orders, and correct and communicate all order discrepancies in a timely manner.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL:

  • Manually or mechanically transport materials: load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, carts, lifting devices, cranes/hoists or other transport vehicles. Unload trucks using lifting devices, as required.
  • Receives and inspects inbound products for accuracy of parts. Receive and count stock items, and record data manually and/or using a computer.
  • Reviews work orders to figure out material requirements of the customer’s order
  • Picking of parts from inventory ensuring the accurate products and correct number of products are retrieved, ensuring all customer orders are picked accurately and efficiently according to deadlines.
  • Packing of parts, preparing of boxes, and placing of packages in correct boxes, and/or on correct skids; applying of required shipping labels ensuring accuracy of order and destination. Record weight and number of pieces to be shipped when required.
  • Put away SKU’s/parts to the correct Bin/Put away location, ensuring accuracy.
  • Use courier (Loomis/Purolator) computer software systems.
  • Open containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools as required
  • Verify inventory discrepancies by comparing them to physical counts of stock. Investigate discrepancies and adjust errors as vital, maintaining accuracy.
  • Notify Supervisor or Team Lead about any safety issues and/or equipment failure
  • Understands and follows Safety Protocols and 5S + 1 and maintains an organized and safe work area with daily cleanup and housekeeping
  • Support and promote the company philosophy of Emerson’s 12 Safety Lifesaving Behaviours.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary to support the warehouse operations

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Ability to understand English oral and written instructions
  • Previous warehouse experience
  • A valid forklift/ tow motor license and electric walkie license or ability to be re-trained if expired.
  • Ability to load and to maneuver loads using a hand lift truck, electric pallet truck and/or forklift (both stand up narrow aisle and sit-down counterbalance)
  • Proven knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook (emails)
  • Strong attention to detail; Ability to read, understand and follow work orders and instructions, perform basic math and complete shipping/receiving paperwork
  • Ability to review one’s own work and complete assigned tasks independently with accuracy against established standards and procedures
  • Good organizational skills, with ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Accurate hand and eye co-ordination and dexterity to grasp, manipulate and assemble objects.
  • Ability to use RF scanner to scan the product and verify using Oracle system
  • Ability to perform work standing for prolonged periods, with frequent lifting, bending, pushing/pulling, and carrying varied sized boxes/loads, with occasional heavy lifting <50lbs and use of stairs/ladders <10 feet.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada – sponsorship will not be provided for this position now or in the future

  • Ability to cope with tight deadlines as “rush” orders when required
  • Ability to cope with occasional unscheduled interruptions
  • Ability to train new co-workers occasionally as required
