The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Inpatient and Ambulatory Medical Care and supervised by the Clinical Leader, the Ward Clerk performs reception and clerical duties for the Pediatric Medical Unit, interacting respectfully with colleagues, patients, families, students, and the public to meet their needs.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Answering phone calls, relaying messages, and managing referrals
  • Providing directions to patients and visitors
  • Processing mail
  • Entering data accurately and promptly
  • Delivering specimens to the lab
  • Enacting transport functions
  • Ordering and maintaining supplies
  • Performing other duties as required

Hours of Work: TBD

Your Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduate from a recognized Office Administration Program preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs (testing may be conducted)
  • Knowledge of SAP and Medical Terminology is an asset
  • Knowledge of Meditech preferred
  • Keyboarding skills minimum of 40 wpm required, 60 wpm preferred (testing may be conducted)
  • Data entry skills required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven team player
  • Ability to work respectfully with inter-professional team members
  • High initiative, attention to detail, self-discipline
  • Commitment to continual learning and sharing knowledge
  • Demonstrated commitment to Family Centred Care
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Language skills in other languages are assets
