Job summary

Oak Valley Health in Uxbridge, Ontario is seeking a Unit Clerk to provide reception and clerical support on a fast-paced inter-professional team. You will acknowledge and direct patients, transcribe orders, file and file, and assist nursing staff and payroll entry.

Responsibilities include chart maintenance, addressing multiple demands, and potential cross-training between ED Registration and inpatient unit as needed. Weekdays 08:00-18:00; weekends 09:00-17:00.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Unit Clerk in a hospital setting.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficient typing and computer skills; Meditech preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledging, receiving and directing patients, visitors and staff in a professional manner.
• Providing clerical support including transcription of physician orders, filing, faxing and photocopying.
• Assembling and maintaining patient charts; supporting nursing staff and payroll entry as directed.
• Cross-train and provide coverage between ED Registration and inpatient unit as needed.
