Job description

OVERVIEW

Responsible for decontaminating, reprocessing and sterilization of equipment, supplies and surgical instrumentation. Cleaning of labour rooms and maintaining stock of supplies.


EDUCATION

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Current BLS.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent experience in a sterile processing area recommended.
  • Recent experience working in the Operating Room and/or Obstetrical Units recommended.
  • Demonstrated ability in cleaning of patient equipment and areas.
  • Ability to lift 10 kg, transport patients, specimens, & supplies as required.
  • Ability to work comfortably around labouring patients and newborns.
  • Decontamination, preparation and sterilization of trays, basin sets, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to the principles of asepsis technique.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively.
  • Good decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Must be prepared to work in all areas of Maternal/Newborn & Child Health Services (skills & abilities considered).
  • Good work and attendance record required.
