Job Description: Waiter at The Courtyard Marriott

Location: The Courtyard Marriott, Montreal

Overview: Situated in the heart of Montreal, near key attractions such as Palais des congrès, Place des Arts, shops on rue Ste-Catherine, and Old Montreal, our hotel features 212 spacious rooms, conference facilities, an indoor pool and hot tub, a fitness center, and dining options including a restaurant, lounge bar, and café.

Position: Waiter

Reporting To: Restaurant Manager and Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests warmly and provide prompt table service.
  • Take and recommend customer orders, answering questions about the menu.
  • Serve food and beverages, sharing menu knowledge for enhanced customer experience.
  • Be familiar with all menu items, garnishes, ingredients, and preparation methods.
  • Process transactions accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
  • Clear tables, reset for new guests, and maintain cleanliness and supplies.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and professional appearance of the hotel.
  • Pay attention to customer allergies and intolerances, ensuring kitchen awareness.
  • Follow hotel procedures and standards.
  • Perform any other related tasks as required.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Day, evening, and weekend shifts

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Diploma in hotel management or professional catering training (DEP)
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Bilingual in French and English; proficiency in both spoken and written English required
  • Availability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, and weekends
  • Strong culinary knowledge and familiarity with oenology, spirits, and beers
  • Ability to react quickly to emergencies
  • Excellent sales skills and customer service orientation
  • Autonomous, organized, and a team player
  • Physical ability to lift/move items up to 11 kg and stand or walk for extended periods
