WAHSA DISTANCE EDUCATION CENTRE

CONSOLE OPERATOR

Wahsa Distance Education Centre is operated by the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council under the direction of District Area Chiefs and First Nation communities. Wahsa provides secondary education services to northern communities across the Sioux Lookout District.

GENERAL

The Console Operator will operate the radio station control room used for Wahsa Distance Education Centre secondary school course broadcasts. The successful candidate will operate the console and telephone interface for classroom broadcasts, receive student calls, assist teachers, assist other on-air broadcast personnel and handle all broadcast administration. The Console Operator may also be assigned technical tasks in computer services as well.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Minimum Grade 12 education
  2. Diploma in radio broadcasting or equivalent work experience would be an asset
  3. Familiarity with distance education technology an asset
  4. Must have good computer literacy and experience with office software
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Fluency in Oji-Cree, Cree or Ojibway is an asset
  7. Willing and available to travel
  8. A cooperative attitude when working with First Nation People, the public and staff

LOCATION: Sioux Lookout, Ontario

HOURS OF WORK: Shift work as scheduled (evening shifts required)
