Vice President, Insurance Growth & Distribution

Reporting to: Senior Vice President, Head of Wealth Solutions

How does the role impact the organization?

The Vice President, Insurance Growth & Distribution is a key member of the Wealth Solutions leadership team. This role is responsible for leading the firm’s insurance growth agenda and distribution strategy, driving revenue through key channels, and aligning product and wealth capabilities to deliver client-centric insurance solutions across Canada.

Our teams provide support and solutions to our more than 500 Investment Advisory Teams in delivering an exceptional total wealth management solution to their clients.

Works closely with: All members of the Wealth Solutions leadership team, , Private Client Group leadership, Branch Managers, Insurance Planning Specialists and Investment Advisors. In addition, they will collaborate with Practice Management, Marketing and Corporate Communications, and Growth and Development.

What will your role be responsible for?

  • Facilitates and collaborates with internal partners and key stakeholders in developing a scalable and sustainable insurance program
  • Develops insurance growth plans and collaborates on the annual insurance business plan
  • Drives insurance sales growth, increases insurance penetration and achieves or exceeds revenue and premium expectations
  • Participates in the annual budget planning process;
  • Improves integration of insurance solutions into financial planning and wealth management processes and client opportunities through a consultative approach
  • Creates buy-in for the value of insurance in financial and wealth plans for clients, through education, tools, and hands-on support to advisors
  • Grows strong working relationships with investment advisory team members
  • Supports leadership and talent development for the insurance specialist team
  • Coaches and supports the insurance specialist team members in their sales efforts
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to deliver high-quality client and advisor experience
  • Builds trusted internal relationships with advisors, stakeholders and colleagues

What do we expect from you?

Qualifications:

Professional and designations

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree
  • CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) required; CFP (Certified Financial Planner) secondary,
  • TEP (Trust and Estate Practitioner) designation preferred and,
  • CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) or legal background is considered a value-add.

Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in insurance distribution and sales strategy
  • Successful track record in leading an insurance sales function to increase penetration and exceed growth targets
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian insurance regulation, market conduct, and advisor/broker ecosystems
  • Experience working in or closely with wealth management leadership and investment advisors for high-net worth solutions
  • Has operated as a hands-on practitioner able to support and coach advisors and others on offering insurance solutions to clients
  • Proven ability to engage and influence others to drive success without direct reporting relationships; known for earning the confidence of investment advisors and demonstrating how insurance can address protection, estate, tax, retirement, and wealth-transfer needs within a client’s broader financial plan
  • Has built an established, robust and diverse professional network with major insurance carriers and industry associations

Working conditions: You are located near Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver corporate/branch offices. Hybrid, in-office days and business travel required.
