Role Description

The Head of Financial Lines Claims Canada will lead multiple teams of adjusters in Financial Lines Claims, encompassing segments such as Financial Institutions (FI) Professional Liability, Fidelity and Commercial Crime, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Errors & Omissions, Directors and Officers, Cyber, and other transactional risk coverages. This key leadership position is responsible for managing teams handling claims across various product lines within financial lines, ensuring operational excellence. The leader will drive best practice claims handling, focusing on optimal claims outcomes and customer service, and oversee the technical and professional development of the team. The role reports to the Head of Claims, Canada.

How you will create an impact

  • Ensure comprehensive claims handling with ownership mentality, clear escalation protocols, and accountability.
  • Manage team leaders and individual performers to achieve claims excellence.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision making.
  • Evaluate staffing models, levels, skills, and compensation with HR and operations to meet long-term objectives.
  • Implement claims segmentation and assignment strategies to optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with best practices, including claims payments, reserving, and cost reduction.
  • Develop and deliver superior claims services leveraging AIG’s strengths.
  • Enhance client experience and support underwriting and distribution efforts.
  • Manage claims costs through improved processes, data, innovation, and technology; oversee KPIs and review processes.
  • Build collaborative relationships with segment heads and technical leaders for consistency and alignment.
  • Provide excellent customer service across teams.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external partners, representing AIG in claims matters.
  • Execute strategic initiatives and drive performance benchmarks.
  • Collaborate on major loss analysis, trend data, talent management, and succession planning with global teams.
  • Act as the primary claims contact for internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to operational ratio improvements through claims management.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to support growth and efficiency.
  • Develop strategies for talent attraction and retention, building high-performing teams.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 10+ years of claims experience in financial lines insurance, across multiple product lines.
  • 5+ years managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proven success in fast-paced claims environments, managing caseloads effectively.
  • Ability to identify trends and risks supporting underwriting and policy development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual in French is an asset.
