VP, FINANCE
Location: Guelph, ON - Hybrid.
Hiring Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000 + Bonus

About the Role:
As the Vice President, Finance at Friendlier, you will act as a key contributor to the overall strategy and are accountable for the financial leadership of the business. As a key member of the executive leadership team, this role reports directly to the CEO. This is both a strategic and hands-on role focused on a number of key areas for Friendlier.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and policies to drive business growth and profitability.
- Determine realistic goals and establish financial controls to maintain productivity.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
- Conduct financial analysis, performance monitoring, and variance analysis to identify areas for improvement.
- Allocate company funds accordingly to ensure optimal department function.
- Manage and oversee all financial affairs for the organization.
- Support negotiations for investments, mergers, acquisitions, and the establishment of new divisions.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and taxation laws.
- Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit process and manage relationships with financial institutions, investors, and stakeholders.
Treasury and Cash Management:
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support operational needs and investment requirements.
- Optimize capital structure, debt financing, and investment decisions to maximize returns.
- Monitor and mitigate financial risks, including foreign exchange risk, interest rate risk, and credit risk.
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
- Collaborate with other executives and department heads to drive operational efficiencies, cost optimization, and revenue growth.
- Business partner with sales to develop go-to-market expectations and build reporting to monitor growth.
- Identify opportunities for expansion, mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures, and assess their financial viability.
- Support board meetings and investor activities when applicable.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing finance organization that creates reporting to support the business.
- Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration to achieve organizational goals.
- Ownership of Payroll through partnering with external Bookkeeper and People & Culture.
What you Bring:
- 5 or more years of experience in leadership positions within a company’s financial department.
- University degree in business administration, accounting, or finance and accreditation as a CPA.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing finance support structure.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting and executing sales and operational strategies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a passion for driving positive environmental impact.
- Experience in a startup or scaleup environment.
- Ability to work both strategically and tactically.
