Job description

The Vice President of Commercial Operations will work closely with their management team and will be responsible for the efficient operations of the Companies’ commercial operations, including passenger, cargo and charter sectors. They will directly manage the commercial operations groups.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reviewing system scheduling for all flight operations to construct the master schedule and provide strategic guidance on schedule optimization
  • Conduct ongoing analysis for optimal fleet utilization that includes scheduling for routine aircraft maintenance
  • Lead and manage the Management team in the functional areas of Customer Service, Passenger Operations, Cargo Operations, Charter Operations Network efficiencies, System Operations Control and Network and Fleet maximization.
  • Coordinate with Director of Flight Operations and crew scheduling to ensure optimal utilization of flight crew resources
  • Create and foster a culture of operational excellence with a focus on corporate objectives in safety, on-time performance, customer service, cargo operations, sales and new business development and network efficiencies
  • Responsible for base operations within the Wasaya network as well as all station operations in the network
  • Provide input and fleet recommendations in conjunction with the executive team
  • Lead OTP efficiency projects and identify trends and solutions to improve on time performance with a focus on finding customer solutions while optimizing scheduled flying
  • Responsible for leading and supporting budgeting processes for all direct report departments, including monthly tracking of actual results vs budgeted expectations
  • Engage in ongoing cost reductions and efficiency improvements within your department
  • Ensure staffing targets are achieved and that departmental managers have the tools, resources, and equipment to successfully lead their teams and execute high performing operations
  • Actively participate in collective bargaining pertaining to groups within your direct control
  • Actively promote a positive corporate culture that reflects the values and mission of the organization.
  • Any other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Skills and Qualifications

A minimum of (5) years’ experience in scheduled airline operations preferably in remote and regional operations Experience in system operations control, cargo, passenger and charter operations in the remote north is a definite asset Solid working knowledge of airline operations in CARs 703 / 704 & 705 Familiarity with First Nations and indigenous cultural awareness is an asset Minimum three (3) years managerial experience at the Senior Management level Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable transportation security clearances Must have exceptional organizational skills, excellent communication skills both written and oral, and the ability to multitask Excellent computer skills, able to work with various internal programs and platforms The ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset. Experience with and / or knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset.

Working Conditions

Frequent travel to bases and stations is required Flexible working hours including evenings and weekends

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift or move up to 20 lbs. Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
