The Role

The Vice President, Advanced Planning is a client-facing role that serves as a financial planning and estate planning subject matter authority for Fidelity’s high net worth clients and their advisors. Depending on our client’s needs, the Advanced Planner can deliver point-in-time estate planning guidance and education or lead a more comprehensive financial and estate planning engagement. The role is supported by a Director, Advanced Planning, and an Advanced Planning Analyst, and together they support client engagements across a geographic region. The team primarily uses video technology for remote work and meets clients and advisors in investor centers. Collaboration within the team occurs both virtually and in-person to maximize impact. Travel is typically between 5% and 20%, depending on proximity to regional sites and investor centers. The role is remote but requires residing within commuting distance to Jersey City, NJ.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree with preferred designations: CPA, JD, M.T., LLM in taxation, CFA, or CFP
  • 13-15+ years of experience, including 7+ years in trusts and estate planning, income tax planning, or succession planning, within public accounting, law practice, or wealth management
  • FINRA Series 7 and 66 obtained within 90 days of employment
  • Knowledge of estate planning, family wealth transfer, wills/trusts, income taxation, and trust and estate taxation
  • Retirement, financial, investment, and insurance planning experience preferred
  • Experience working with business owners and start-ups/Pre IPO companies is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and lead client engagements in a designated territory
  • Ability to coach and develop junior team members
  • Strong team collaboration skills to deliver exceptional client experiences
  • Effective communication of complex subjects
  • High emotional intelligence for client and advisor interactions
  • Client-first, solution-oriented work ethic

The Team

We are part of the Advanced Planning Leadership Development team, collaborating with Fidelity’s advisors and high-net-worth clients to provide tailored financial planning that considers each client’s unique goals and family dynamics.

The base salary range is $120,000 - $185,000 per year, with placement depending on responsibilities, location, experience, and other factors. Compensation may also include bonuses or variable pay.
