Job summary

Sagesse is seeking a Volunteer Program Associate to attract, support, and retain volunteers who contribute to the organization’s mission. This full-time role covers hybrid work, including evenings and some weekends, with a 37.5-hour week and parental leave cover from Oct 2026 to July 2027.

Salary is 49,000–53,000 CAD per year, reporting to the Program Manager, and requires a Diploma or Degree in social work or related field.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in social work or related field.
  • Experience providing administrative support and coordinating volunteers is preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities are essential.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid (remote and in-office) environment with virtual technologies.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of volunteer standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines with direction from agency leadership.
  • Maintain and oversee adherence to volunteer standards, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Implement screening, intake, onboarding, support, appreciation and belonging of all agency volunteers.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program team to identify and address support gaps for effective program delivery.
  • Implement new research in the development, delivery and maintenance of volunteer program as directed by agency leadership.
  • Create an experience of belonging for all volunteers.

About the Position

Contract: Full-Time, 37.5 Hours per Week. Parentalleave cover – October 2026 to July 2027

Salary Range: 49,000 – $53,000 per annum

Reports To: Program Manager

Schedule: Schedule determined with direct supervisor based on agency needs. Position will require at minimum 1 evening per week and some weekends

Location: Hybrid – combination of remote and in-office

Key Responsibilities
  • Support implementation of volunteer standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines with direction from agency leadership
  • Maintain and oversee adherence to volunteer standards, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Implement screening, intake, onboarding, support, appreciation and belonging of all agency volunteers
  • Work collaboratively with the Program team to identify and address support gaps for effective program delivery
  • Implement new research in the development, delivery and maintenance of volunteer program as directed by agency leadership
  • Create an experience of belonging for all volunteers
Program Administration
  • Report on monthly activities and statistics
  • Provide information, as neccessary, for development of funding proposals and reports

Qualifications

Required:

  • Diploma or Degree in social work, social services, or related experience
  • Skills, and/or interest in administrative and logistical support
  • Skilled at building lasting relationships that keep volunteers engaged, supported and connected to the work over time
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfort working in a hybrid environment and using virtual technologies
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting community-based, nonprofit, or social service programs
    Experience coordinating multiple projects or partnerships
  • Experience recruiting volunteers and keeping them engaged over time through ongoing relationship building and support
