Extra Life is a global movement that brings together thousands of gamers to raise funds for their local Children's Miracle Network hospitals—like SickKids. Participants can play any game, from anywhere, at any time, all while fundraising to support critical care, groundbreaking research, and life-saving partnerships. The Extra Life Toronto Guild is a passionate group of volunteer gamers who go beyond participation to advocate for the cause and grow the movement locally. The Guild supports Extra Life through online engagement, community events, and grassroots promotion—and we\'re looking for an Events Planner to join our team.

Role Summary

The Events Planner will oversee the planning and execution of community events that support the Extra Life Toronto Guild\'s mission and fundraising goals. This role is responsible for working collaboratively with the Extra Life Guild leadership team to help coordinate major events like Game Day by contacting vendors, coordinating logistics, and supporting marketing efforts. The Events Planner will work closely with the Extra Life Guild President, as well as SickKids Foundation, to deliver impactful and engaging experiences for the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning and coordinating community events. These include smaller events such as Guild Socials and major events like Game Day.
  • Reach out to potential venues, vendors, and sponsors who can help support Extra Life events and fundraising goals.
  • Help manage RSVPs and track attendance to ensure proper planning for event capacity, supplies, and volunteer support.
  • Promote events through Guild social media and other channels that reach relevant audiences.
  • Work with Guild members and volunteers to provide basic event-day coordination and support.
  • Collaborate with the Guild President and Vice-President, with all team members sharing responsibility for event planning and execution.
Ideal Qualifications
  • 2+ years of leadership or event planning experience.
  • Strong communication, organization and relationship-building skills.
  • Familiarity with community engagement or grassroots events is a plus.
  • A passion for gaming, fundraising, or supporting children's health initiatives.
Time Commitment & Location

Flexible commitment: 1–4 hours per week, with fluctuations during peak periods.

6-month minimum term, renewable.

Primarily virtual, with some in-person participation for events as needed.

Busiest time: Fall, leading up to Game Day (24-hour gaming marathon) in early November.
