Native Child and Family Services of Toronto utilizes volunteer drivers to provide transportation to children in care to and from appointments, family visits, school, camp, and other special drive requests. We are always looking for drivers who have good driving records, would like to give back to the community and are reliable and punctual. All of our volunteer drivers receive reimbursement for mileage.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide local and long distance transportation for children. Abide by the rules of the road and all driving / automobile related laws
  • Properly use child restraints, according to current standards
  • Follow all policies and procedures as applicable

Qualifications, Knowledge And Skills

  • Driver’s abstract must be submitted prior to commencing as a Volunteer Driver and will be completed on an annual basis
  • Must have, and maintain, a minimum of $2,000,000 liability insurance
  • Adherence to mandatory seat belt and child restraint regulations
  • Experience with children is an asset
  • Reliability, flexibility, patience, and confidentiality are all required
  • Must have a good driving record, acceptable police check and driver’s abstract
  • Must have a valid G driver’s license at all times
  • Must complete mandatory child safety seat training, as required
  • Drivers will receive a 96-cent / km reimbursement

NOTE : All vehicles must be equipped with approved tether bolts so that infant / toddler car seats may be secured. If the vehicle is equipped with a passenger air bag, children under the age of 13 must sit in the rear seat using a seat belt.
