Volunteer Director, Technology Institute
Job Title: Volunteer Director of Technology for STEM Canada’s Technology Institute for children Ages 6 – 17
Location: Remote
Hours per Week: Min 4 hours
Start Date: ASAP

STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

OVERVIEW

Do you have a strong interest in leadership and tech education? To fill the position of Director of our Technology Institute, we are seeking a dynamic and seasoned expert. This volunteer position provides a special chance to spearhead an educational project, spur creativity, and leave a lasting impression on educators and students.

DUTIES
  1. Provide strategic leadership to direct the development and academic success of the institute.
  2. Manage research projects, faculty professional development, and curriculum development.
  3. Improve educational opportunities and form and fortify alliances with academic institutions, community organizations, and leaders in the business.
  4. Sustain the provision of high-quality education and ensure that institutional regulations are followed.
  5. Develop and implement pathway programs.
  6. Further the institute’s goals and projects, representing it in conferences, industry gatherings, and professional associations both domestically and abroad.
  7. Determine and carry out strategic initiatives for collaboration in international education that further the institute’s long-term goals.
  8. Foster innovation in education by incorporating contemporary teaching methodologies.
  9. Ensure operational effectiveness by interpreting and implementing administrative policies, processes, and procedures.
  10. Motivate and lead staff while cultivating a team-oriented, goal-oriented atmosphere.
  11. Participate in public appearances and serve as the institute’s principal spokesperson, promoting the goals and effects of STEM education.
REQUIREMENTS
  1. Enrolled in post-secondary education or have a Master’s or PhD in a related field.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in an academic or professional setting.
  3. Strong communication, presentation, and project management skills.
  4. Experience in faculty management, accreditation procedures, and curriculum creation.
  5. The ability to interact with a range of stakeholders, such as academics, industry experts, and students.
  6. A thorough awareness of worldwide education trends.
  7. A strong commitment to mentoring, education, and encouraging innovation.
  8. Proficiency in forming and overseeing alliances with top academic institutions and business associations.
  9. A track record of successfully negotiating and formalizing agreements for academic collaborations.
