About the Role

Our National Rehabilitation Department is seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist located in Halifax, NS, Greenwood, NS, or Edmonton, AB. The role involves providing vocational rehabilitation to eligible members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).

You will help our plan members return to work through collaborative, individualized strategies involving stakeholders and vendors. Typical activities include visits, coordination, budget management, and possibly mediation and negotiation. The role demands multi-tasking, flexibility, and prioritization skills due to conflicting demands and tight deadlines.

Special Conditions

This is a home-based role with regional travel required.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop, monitor, and implement innovative, goal-oriented vocational rehabilitation strategies.
  2. Assist with transitioning ill and injured CAF members back to work.
  3. Collaborate with members and stakeholders to develop creative solutions.
  4. Manage budgets effectively.
  5. Communicate complex messages clearly to members, medical professionals, and policyholders.
  6. Ensure support services are accessible to our members.
Qualifications
  • Related university degree, preferably in Health Sciences (Psychology, Counseling, Nursing).
  • Vocational rehabilitation or active rehabilitation experience.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, disability insurance, medical terminology, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to present to large groups.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Prior military experience or knowledge is an asset.

Salary & Benefits

The annual salary range is CAD 48,075 to CAD 80,125, depending on experience and location. Benefits include health, dental, retirement plans, paid time off, and more.
