Job summary

Dominion Dynamics in Ottawa is seeking a VMS Engineer to own the architecture between mission autonomy software and vehicle control. You will design, validate ICDs, and oversee hardware integration from FCCs to power distribution, ensuring safe operation.

You will lead HIL campaigns, coordinate with suppliers, and drive FDIR and fault-tolerant logic across central processing and actuators, shaping Canada’s defence capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience bridging autonomy and vehicle-level control through a VMS or central flight computer.
• Hands-on ICD development with interfaces precise enough for a flight management system.
• Experience integrating flight-critical avionics/GNC hardware through to qualification.
• Working knowledge of FDIR and fail-safe design for flight-critical systems.
• Experience with HIL/bench test campaigns and ground/flight testing.
• Bachelor's or Master's in EE/AE/CE or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, integrate, and validate the central VMS and flight computer architecture—bridges autonomy to base-level control.
• Define and implement ICDs to translate and execute dynamic commands safely.
• Run full integration lifecycle for flight-critical avionics and GNC hardware—FCCs, INS/GPS, actuators, power units.
• Drive supplier technical management for flight-critical GNC and avionics hardware from spec to acceptance.
• Architect fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) logic and fail-safe behavior across hardware.
• Lead HIL integration, bench testing, and ground/flight test troubleshooting of central VMS components.
