Pay Rate : $19.75 - $23.50 per hour

Position Overview

Manages the General Merchandise department at a large store, including managing employee activities to meet financial and marketing objectives. Coordinates sales promotions with the Home Office and manages execution in the store. Assists customers and suggests product selections based on knowledge of current products and customer interactions. Demonstrates strong knowledge of Follett systems and strategies, the industry, and the competitive landscape to execute initiatives, drive profitable sales, and control expenses. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. Partners with support teams including Store Operations, HR, and Training. Responsibilities
  • Supervises department employees, including assigning, evaluating, interviewing, hiring, and training staff.
  • Supervises RTV processes and assists customers.
  • Manages special order functions and communicates with customers.
  • Creates a customer service culture focused on solutions-based selling and exceptional experience.
  • Builds partnerships for promotional and off-site sales events.
  • Conducts daily store walkthroughs for stock, inventory, and customer service.
  • Manages merchandise displays from stockroom to sales floor, liaising with the Planner.
  • Creates and maintains displays per company standards.
  • Executes markups, markdowns, analyzes reports, processes purchase orders, and approves invoices.
  • Partners with the Store Manager on promotions, sales, and inventory management.
  • May perform website maintenance, fill orders, and ensure online merchandise accuracy.
  • Responds to customer inquiries and resolves issues.
  • May manage the store in the manager's absence or supervise other departments.
  • May open or close the store.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
